The presence of dreams in the feline family was first proven by the French physiologist Michel Marcel Jouvet. 

During the experiment, he disabled one part of the sleeping cat's brain responsible for muscle activity during sleep. After removing the block, the subject demonstrated a hunting master class during the rapid eye movement (REM) phase. It completely ignored real mice offered to it, chasing invisible prey, which served as evidence of vivid imagery in its mind ⬇️

🔹What color are dreams?

Currently, there is no consensus among scientists on this question, but it is highly probable that the images generated by a sleeping mind are no different from the real world. Unlike humans, furry pets only see it in the green and blue-violet spectrum.

🔹Do cats dream about their owners?

The images that arise during dreaming often echo past experiences. Despite the lack of research on this topic, the likelihood of scenarios involving owners is very high.

🔹Do cats dream about food and household matters?

All subsequent experiments with blocking have shown that the images in the subjects' minds are associated with very strong emotions. Based on this, scientists have suggested that cat dreams reproduce events from the past that require increased concentration (hunting) and are accompanied by nervous tension (stressful situations).

It is also quite likely that, in addition to chasing mice and unpleasant visits to the vet, they dream about favorite treats, beloved toys, and trips to the countryside 💙

Understanding that cats dream, it can be confidently said that nightmares are not alien to them either. Unpleasant images are accompanied by various moans, nervous tail twitching, growling, and hissing.

🔹Can you wake an animal during dreaming?

You can, but only if absolutely necessary. A startled animal may fall from a high surface or attack the one who woke it up at cat care.
